The Imperial Period (history of Iwanami Japan Volume 8)
About This Novel
"The Imperial Period" is the representative work of Japanese historian Yui Masaomi. "The Imperial Period" is the eighth volume in the Iwanami Japan History series, which introduces the history of Japan from 1890 to 1952. 1890 Was the year the first Imperial Diet was convened based on the "Constitution of the Empire of Japan" ("Meiji Constitution") promulgated the previous year; 1952 was the year the "Peace Treaty with Japan" (San Francisco Peace Treaty) came into effect. During these more than 60 years, Japan has long used "Empire of Japan" as its country name, so this volume is called the "Imperial Period." This volume continues the previous volume "Meiji Restoration" and comprehensively reviews Japan's process of modernization, deep integration into the world, and continuous initiating and participating in wars after the reform. This period of history has brought profound changes not only to Japan, but also to China, Asia and the world.
