About This Novel

This book takes urban emotions as its theme, and uses two clues, real plot and movie narrative, to develop in an intertwined way. The time span is large, the characters and cities are numerous, and the author's unique beauty and desolation are maintained. The theme of this first novel is about a confession. With strangers, in a strange place, like facing an unfathomable sea full of meaning under the night, facing each other in silence, comforting each other. The audience will see themselves inside, the old see the bloom, the young see the wither.

Flower of the other shore

"Flowers of the Other Side" is the second book by Annie that I read. I remember it very clearly. It tells the story of two girls, Qiao and Xiaozhi. It also contains a movie story about Lin Heping and Nansheng. In her unique style, she describes a group of urban wanderers who have cold looks, burning souls and choose to live on the edge. It is always difficult to show people the most painful wounds when citing them in literature. They just want to find a dark corner to hide. They are all things that deeply touch the soul.

Let's talk about the shortcomings first-- Seriously, the plot isn't very good. Because there are too many dark things and almost no beautiful things. It is difficult for people to find positive energy from just a few words. Let's talk about this story again-- The author tells this story in two ways, one is "I (Qiao)" at the moment, and the other is Nan Sheng in the movie written by "I". They are the same person, just at different stages. A boy and a girl became brother and sister because of their parents' remarriage. They love each other, but their love for each other is different. It is this difference that prevents them from being together no matter what. The boy has been oppressed and despised by his mother since he was a child. Just because his father abandoned her, he became a scapegoat. Although the girl was treated like a stranger by her stepmother, she lost her father. Her childhood lacked something stable, dooming her to be lonely and wandering ever since. The girl entrusted this dependence to the boy. She fell in love with him and hoped to be with him for the rest of her life. But the burden on the young man was already overwhelming, and he was unwilling to bear more. Although they are ML. The family's financial difficulties caused the boy to lose his studies. He fought, wandered on the streets, and did bad things. The mother's punishment caused the boy to run away from home. In the following years, there was nothing more contact between them than the remittances sent by the boy. The heroine once went to find him, to the city where he was, and they had sex, but the hero didn't want to come back. He didn't even want to see his mother's final moments before she died. The girl's loneliness contributed to her downfall. She has had several men and had sex with them. But there is only one male protagonist that I have always loved in my heart. She went to find him again, and he had a woman named Ali. Although the male protagonist does not love Ali in his heart, he chooses to be with her because Ali can make him forget his past misfortune. The female protagonist was pregnant twice, by the male protagonist, but both were aborted. The female protagonist doesn't want to let go, and the male protagonist can't bear to let her go, so they get entangled again and again. The real change is that the male protagonist makes up his mind never to see her again. She stabbed him with a knife. (This part is the plot of the movie, and it is also the story written by "I" in the book, because "I" is a writer. However, there are two endings. First, the male protagonist is fine, and the female protagonist goes to prison and is later released. Second, the male protagonist is fine, but the female protagonist takes out the fetus from her belly, causing lifelong infertility.) Now let's talk about the advantages-- I like Baby Anne's writing style very much. It is full of deep pain and has the power to directly touch the soul. A sentence, a paragraph, as beautiful as prose.

A touch of sadness~

I just watched it, but I was hooked from the start. The author's literary talent is very good, simple yet gorgeous, and he writes according to his own personality. The story is narrated in the first person, expressing the author's truest emotions. I have only read the first part now, but I can still feel the emotion throughout the book - sadness. Although this sadness is faint, people can still feel it. Although I haven't read much yet, I think this is a good book.
