"Watching the Lighthouse" is one of the representative works of contemporary British writer Janet Winterson. The heroine Yin'er in this book is an orphan with no fixed place and was adopted by the blind man Puyou. Puyo is the lighthouse keeper of Las Point, his whereabouts are mysterious, and he tells Yin'er many travel stories across time and space. The stories revolve around Bobby Duck, a nineteenth-century clergyman who lived a life half light and half dark. In Yin'er's view, Dak's story is a map for her to travel through darkness, intertwined with her own story, and ultimately leads to love, creating a touching love story. This book uses poetic language and storytelling techniques to create a modern fable. This book was named "The Best Foreign Novel of the Year in the 21st Century" in 2004.
