About This Novel

The protagonists Henrik and Selim grew up together. Although they have the same interests and aspirations, their personalities are very different. Compared to Henrik's melancholy and sensitivity, Selim is more outgoing and impulsive. The death of the old servant Mikola made Henrik become Hania's guardian and fell deeply in love with her, but Hania eloped with Hania on a rainy night. After the elopement failed, Hania contracted bean disease and her face was in danger of being disfigured. Henrik challenged Selim to a duel and was seriously wounded and nearly killed. After all the turmoil passed, Selim still expressed his love to Hania, but the disfigured Hania was already disheartened and regretted the original elopement. It was the recklessness of youth that caused all this. Eventually, she became a nun and her heart was as calm as water.
