The Language of Grass

About This Novel
As the crimson sun crept close to the undulating horizon of Gain Beta, David Horn's hoverboard climbed over the hillock seventy miles east of Port Prosperity. Three meters away from his feet, clumps of newly matured Tara grass swayed gently in the evening breeze, releasing countless tiny spores into the air. Gain Beta is a world of grass, with fern savannahs stretching to the horizon (although these plants have nothing to do with "grass" in the strict sense) covering nearly every inch of the cold, dry Earth-like planet. Although in ancient geological time, the planet's land surface was once covered with dense jungles that would dwarf the redwood forests of the Rocky Mountains on Earth, time has changed and all this is now a thing of the past.
