Boiling Cornfield
by Liu Yongtao
About This Novel
Just after the Waking of Insects, the cornfield at the head of the village revealed its spiky green. The morning air was very fresh, and Benben felt a little drunk as he sniffed it. Benben was probably the first person in the whole village to get up, with two buckets swinging proudly on both ends of the pole. The well is in the east of the village. Benben hurriedly put down the bucket, and the bucket made a "bang" sound in the well. Benben smiled, feeling like he was shaking all morning. The wooden bucket full of water said nothing, while the pole creaked on Clumsy's shoulder. Benben walked briskly, and a layer of undulating water gathered on the surface of the bucket mouth. The water ripples forward, and then backwards in the rhythm controlled by Cunben. The fluctuating water shook Benben's face, and Benben's heart was as quiet as a lively drop of water. Passing by a high courtyard wall, the dog inside started barking again. That's Heipi's dog.
