About This Novel
Chekhov is a world-class master of short stories in Russia and the last critical realist art master in Russia in the late 19th century. Together with the French writer Maupassant and the American writer O. Henry, he is known as one of the "three major short story writers in the world". This collection collects 9 short stories. "Named Day" uses a description of a nameday party to reflect the vanity of an intellectual couple, causing tragedy in poor life. "Bishop" tells the story of a child who was born in poverty and finally became a bishop, but it brought a monotonous and meaningless life.
