King in Yellow
About This Novel
"The King in Yellow" is a collection of short stories published by American novelist Robert W. Chambers in 1895. This book has a very classic milestone status in the world of modern British and American fantasy literature. Under its influence, the most classic image of the devil in the history of American literature was born - "The Evil God Cthulhu". "The King in Yellow" has directly or indirectly influenced almost all horror and supernatural novel writers in English since the twentieth century. The title of the book "The King in Yellow" comes from the title of a play made up by the author, and serves as a potential theme to connect the ten short stories in the book. Among them, the first four stories - "The Man Who Repairs His Reputation", "The Mask", "The Court of the Dragon" and "The Yellow Talisman" all point out that "The King in Yellow" is a banned play. It is said that the script of this play is full of despair and madness and can drive readers crazy, and almost all the protagonists in these four stories die unexpectedly.
