About This Novel
Chekhov is a world-class Russian short story master and the last critical realist art master in Russia in the late 19th century. He is also known as the "three major short story writers in the world" together with French writer Maupassant and American writer O. Henry. This collection contains 11 short stories. "Song Girl" describes a humble singer who is kind and generous, while those "upper-class people" who insult her are small and despicable. "Sorrow" writes about the endless sorrow of an elderly worker who lost his wife. "In Exile" reflects that exiled prisoners never forget freedom and happiness in their painful lives.
