About This Novel

This book is a collection of two short story collections "The Dreamer's Tales" and "The Sword of Valleland and Other Stories" by Irish fantasy writer Lord Dunsany. They are the fifth and third important works respectively, with a total of 28 stories. They were first published in 1910 and 1908. Lord Dunsany's works are ethereal and profound, blending various ancient folklore, mythology and fantasy colors. They are the pioneer works of fantasy novels in the 20th century. They are considered to have had a profound influence on later writers such as H. P. Lovecraft (author of "The Myth of Crusu"), Tolkien (author of "The Lord of the Rings"), Ursula Le Guin (author of "Tales from Earthsea"), etc.
