About This Novel
From 1839 to 1840, Lermontov published the novels "Bela", "Taman" and "The Fatalist" in the magazine "Chronicle of the Fatherland". In May 1840, Lermontov published these novels together with the unpublished "Maxim Maximich" and "Princess Merry". This is the novel "Contemporary Heroes". The protagonist of the novel, Bi Qiaolin, is a young aristocratic officer. The author reflects that era through the fragments of his empty and eager life.
