About This Novel
After the down-and-out poet Shinmon Aoki dropped out of Japan's prestigious Waseda University, he entered the funeral industry by chance and has been doing so for nearly forty years. Seeing all kinds of dead people every day, as well as their relatives who are separated from them, Aoki went from fear at first, to calmness, to compassion, and finally realized the boundary between life and death.
