About This Novel
This book is a collection of Huaben and Huahua novels compiled by Feng Menglong in the late Ming Dynasty. It is collectively called "Three Words" together with the other two collections of novels compiled by him, "Yu Shi Ming Yan" and "Awakening Shi Heng Yan". "Jingshi Tongyan" contains forty novels written in the Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties. All works have been processed by Feng Menglong to varying degrees, and some have even been rewritten. Some of them can be definitely referred to as Feng Menglong's personal works, such as "Old Disciple Repays His Gratitude in Three Lives" and so on. Most of these forty novels are "cautionary" works, and nearly half of them reflect love and marriage and family changes caused by love and marriage. In addition, there are some works in "Warning Words" that express traditional themes such as friendship, chivalry, joys and sorrows, intelligence, anecdotes, etc. The contents may be touching, the plots may be tortuous, or they may be humorous, and most of them can teach and inspire people.
