Amber is in internal and external troubles. On one side is the ominous dark road that cuts through the various shadow worlds. The power from darkness follows this dark road to attack Amber, which they could never have touched before. On the other hand, the princes and princesses of Amber were suspicious of each other and formed small conspiracy groups. Some support their own troops, some are indifferent to all this, and some even turn to the dark power from the black road. Corwin struggled to support the predicament and tried to find out the truth of all this. In the midst of trouble, a unicorn appears. Amber's mythical beast guides Corwin, leading him to Amber's source. What is waiting for him there?
