The article "April Fool's Day" collects many real or fictitious characters throughout the ages. Lamb clarifies his preferred attitude towards "fools" in the article. The classic essay "A Single Man Describes the Words and Deeds of a Married Person" has vivid language, a solemn and humorous mood, and a narrative close to life. In "On Roast Pig", a friend of Lamb introduced him to a Chinese manuscript about the origin of roast suckling pig.
