About This Novel
Zhang Yiping (1902-1947), whose nickname was Zao Hui, also known as Hong Xi, was from Jixi, Anhui. He was born in Mengtangguan when he was young. He went to Qianfu to study in 1908 and then entered the Second Normal School of Anhui Province. In 1921, he entered the preparatory course of Peking University. After graduating from Peking University, he edited an education magazine at the Education Improvement Society founded by Tao Xingzhi. He served as chief editor at Shanghai Dadong Bookstore. He co-organized the monthly "Yu Si" with Lu Xun and was an important contributor. In 1928, he served as secretary to the president of Jinan University and professor of the Department of Literature. After the Anti-Japanese War, he served as professor of Chengdu University and a member of Nanshe News Agency and the Left-wing Writers Alliance. He has written a lot, including more than 20 short story collections, essay collections, poetry collections, academic works, children's books, translations and collections of ancient books. He is a modern writer and translator. There is also a comic editor of the same name.
