Selected Short Stories by Chekhov

About This Novel
The works selected in this book come from the two periods before and after Chekhov's creation. Among the early works, in addition to "Chameleon" which is familiar to Chinese readers and has a certain realistic criticism, there are also some light-hearted and purely humorous novels. "The Man in the Trap" is the most famous of Chekhov's later novels selected in "Selected Short Stories of Chekhov". This novel expresses the dull and depressing atmosphere of the times and satirizes the generally rigid and restricted mental state of Russian society.

He still failed to completely break out of that trap. He only criticized but did not solve the substantive issues. But his writing skills are very good and he is an excellent novelist.
I can't understand. I can't understand. I can't understand.
A living classic!

The woman jumping around is exactly the same as the story around me...
Ignorance is the original sin
There is no premeditated crime in this collection of novels. Every short story by Chekhov is a classic. The first story I read about him was premeditated crime. I like the title of the book "Premeditated Crime" very much. These three words first clearly refer to Dennis (also known as Janis). According to "at this time, two strong soldiers escorted him out of the interrogation room", it can be seen that the novel reveals the ending of Dennis being imprisoned on the charge of "premeditated" crime. Secondly, "premeditated offenders" also allude to the government. Government functional departments only know simple and crude law enforcement and cannot explain to people in society. This is an important reason why society as a whole is ignorant of the law. From this point of view, government functional departments are exactly the "premeditated offenders" that cause villagers to collectively break the law. In the conflict between human nature and law, ignorance is the original sin. Everyone in the environment does this, and it feels natural. The law needs to be popularized, rather than just judging based on its appearance, otherwise it will only treat the symptoms but not the root cause. Capturing one Dennis will lead to numerous villagers and will not improve the safety of the railway. What they should do is make the law universal. Only by solving ignorance can the problem be solved.
A short story is a small story
O. Henry writes about life in stories, which are interesting and surprising; Maupassant writes about life in stories, which are true and thought-provoking; Chekhov writes about life, which is straightforward and terrifying.
Interesting soul, cookie-cutter. Uh-huh
