About This Novel
I stood on the balcony on the top of the 20th floor and made an appointment, but I couldn't wait for someone to come. The building opposite has just had its green plastic cladding peeled off, exposing gray and blue wall tiles. The suspended cargo elevator moved silently, casting a dark shadow on the glass wall of another tall building, and the shadow also moved up and down. I was impatient to wait, so I walked out of a low yellow door and walked towards the elevator. The corridor was dark and damp, with only the red numbers at the entrance of the elevator changing like a heartbeat. The elevator stopped suddenly in front of me, and I opened my mouth. The bright white light almost made me unable to open my eyes. I went in and pressed 1. The elevator closed its mouth silently and descended smoothly and slowly. When it reached the 12th floor, it suddenly stopped again and opened. A man wearing a dark blue shirt and trousers looked at me with a smile, as if he was about to come in. I was filled with joy and was about to call him when the door closed.
