Yule: Remembering Gucheng
by North Island
About This Novel
Gu Cheng (1956-1993) is one of the most influential poets in the history of contemporary Chinese poetry. His poems are pure and natural. The sentence "The night gave me black eyes, but I use them to find light..." Has become a classic line in new Chinese poetry. His works have been translated into more than ten languages including English, French, German, Spanish and Swedish. The romantic life of Gu Cheng and his wife Xie Ye, who met and fell in love and lived in seclusion on Waiheke Island in New Zealand, has also become a legendary story. On October 8, 1993, the fairy tale poet killed his wife Xie Ye and then committed suicide in his New Zealand residence due to a marriage dispute. His untimely death is a loss to the contemporary poetry world; the tragedy of his life is also a sad mystery in the history of literature. "Fish Music: Recalling Gu Cheng" is a collection of commemorative essays written by Gu Cheng's friends, including retrospective essays written by 11 well-known writers, poets, scholars and translators to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Gu Cheng's death, such as Shu Ting, Wang Anyi, etc. It also includes 66 precious historical pictures, which comprehensively and three-dimensionally display Gu Cheng's poetic life. The man has passed away, and the condolences are sincere. Whether it is to appreciate the true love in the world, or to gain an in-depth understanding of the deep-seated reasons behind the tragedy of Gu Cheng and his life, "Yu Le: Remembering Gucheng" collects good articles that reveal true feelings.

"Everything is clear, but we still miss it in a hurry, because you believe in fate, because I doubt life."
There should be no charge for literary works
When I was reading people's opinions on that matter on Zhihu, one respondent said that he typed a lot of words and deleted them all in the end, leaving only one poem. I looked at it and turned over it. I came across this book by chance today. I only read a little bit and burst into tears. Gu Cheng, Xie Ye, Shu Ting, all can no longer go back. It seems that few people pay attention to their works themselves, but they all criticize their actions. Mentioning that they like his works is considered whitewashing. I typed a lot of words in the review, and I could still be a little more objective about Gu Cheng, but more space was given to my favorite Shu Ting, and the more I wrote, the more subjective I became. After thinking for a long time, I deleted them all. I did the same thing as the respondent. Let me play another poem that the respondent posted at that time. It is indeed very appropriate. Grave bed I know that eternal death is coming, and I am not sad My wishes are placed in the pine forest There is the sea below, it looks like a pool from a distance What follows me little by little is the afternoon sunshine Human time is over, life is very long I should rest in between People passing by said the branches were low People walking by said the branches are growing
A person who is pure to the extreme
Gu Cheng is like this. We also want to be like this. We need unconditional love, but we have forgotten that people who are better than us also need to be loved unconditionally. A person who is late to realize it, but it is really difficult to let go. I have heard of Gu Cheng's poems but I have never read them, but I understand him. I also understand Xie Ye. In life, I have also wanted to let go of my dependence on some people like Gu Cheng. It is very painful.
Misty poet.
I'm very curious about what kind of person Gu Cheng is, but this book only has illustrations for free.
Gu Cheng is my favorite poet. I have read many of his poems and found them to be as dreamy and philosophical as fairy tales. This book allowed me to learn more about Gu Cheng and the people around him, and it also provided many different perspectives (for example, the last praise and criticism was relatively novel and quite reasonable, worth reading). It's a very good book~
Emotions and the Utopia are both luxuries that don't hurt your muscles and bones. You will always be convinced by reality.
I read Ba Gucheng's article on the public account and was very disillusioned...
Not bad, worth a look!
