This book is a collection of novels, including 5 short and medium-length works by the author. There is "Outside the City", which goes to the city to become a teacher but is rejected by others, and longs for the simple life in the countryside; "Uncle's Last Will and Testament", which describes an old schoolmaster who has been diligent all his life and worked hard like an old scalper; and which tells the story of virtuous people. "Sangyu Ermei", in which Shuxian pursues a happy life, and the peasant widow remarries; "Loess Man in Loess Village", which vividly and accurately depicts the rural reality of bitterness and joy; and "The Lost Village", which has a certain irony and faces the reality of the countryside. Each work is sincere and expresses the author's local feelings.
