About This Novel

This book is one of the collections of special articles by members of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Most of the papers included in this collection were written between 2004 and 2010, and are roughly divided into two volumes. The first volume of papers mainly responds to various new issues and debates, impetuousness and subversion that have emerged in literary theory in the new century. In view of the rampant practical instrumentalism and utilitarianism in the humanities today, a preliminary exploration and elaboration of the methodological issues of the humanities and the core issues of the nature of the humanities are made. The second series of papers mainly focuses on reflection. In the past sixty years, literary theory has experienced twists and turns and tremendous changes, and has made significant achievements and innovations in recovery and construction. However, there are divergent opinions on reflection and evaluation. Based on the principle of historicism, this collection of papers pursues the problems that have arisen in each period in the specific historical context, conducts theoretical cleaning and elaboration, and gives a generally reasonable positioning and summary, so as to facilitate the inheritance, innovation and development of literary theory.
