About This Novel

This book explores the impact of social transformation since the late Qing Dynasty and the women's liberation movement on ancient women's self-cultivation, and looks for the connection between modern female writers and traditional female culture. The two concepts of "female work-study culture" and "female cultural conservatism" are proposed to analyze the different situations of gender and morality in traditional and modern societies.
