Visibility and Invisibility: Image Narrative and Discursive Metaphor in Western Painting
About This Novel
This book is based on problem awareness and uses representative artists and classic art phenomena in Western art history as clues to construct chapters. Each chapter of this book focuses on an artist or an artistic phenomenon, trying to explore the narrative construction of images and their discourse metaphors based on Western art historical practices from classical to contemporary times. This book focuses on three key words: image representation, narrative construction, and discourse metaphor. "Image representation" is an investigation at the phenomenon level and is also the case support of this book. "Narrative construction" is a deep theoretical analysis of phenomena. "Discourse metaphor" studies the social culture, aesthetic concepts and ideological discourse behind image narratives. This book introduces the perspectives of art philosophy, art sociology and art cross-media, and discusses the research object from the perspective of the integration of social theory, aesthetics, culture, philosophy and art, etc., And then provides theoretical support for current art appreciation and art criticism from the combination of case studies and academic theories, as well as practical support for the interpretation of current art theories.
