There is a phenomenon in the novels of the late Qing Dynasty: people like to mark the title of their works with the word "new" to indicate difference, such as "New Stone Story", "New Airship", "New Shanghai", "New People in the Twentieth Century", etc. There are quite a few. The author calls this phenomenon of "new" marks in novels, and his works are called "new" novels. This book takes this as the research object, and its main task is to describe this phenomenon, explore its causes, and classify and analyze its works based on collecting as comprehensive information as possible.
