About This Novel

This book is the eighteenth volume of the Harvard Classics Series - "Modern British Drama". The "modern" referred to here refers to the era division method of the era in which the author of this book lived. Now called "classicism". The poetic drama "Manfred" was created by the British poet Byron when he was traveling in Europe. It is one of the poet's representative works. Manfred is a typical "Byronic hero", arrogant, lonely, rebellious, and romantic: in the three-act poetic drama, he went from poverty to poverty, but in the end he could not get rid of the pain of love and gain peace of soul.
