Six Sisters
by Yibei
About This Novel
The novel takes Huainan, a small town in Anhui and Huaihe River from the 1950s to the first decade of the 21st century as the background of the story. It tells the tragedy and comedy of the lives of the older generation of the He family and their six daughters in Laobitou, Tianjia'an District. After the founding of New China, Lao He moved his family from Jiangdu, Yangzhou, to Anhui to support socialist construction, and took root on the banks of the Huaihe River. As a foreigner, Lao He longed to have a son to help him establish a family. Who would have thought that in twenty years, he would have six daughters and eventually pass away in a car accident. The He family's "son dream" has never been realized. The old lady of the He family, her daughter-in-law Liu Meixin, and her six granddaughters ushered in the era of women heading the family. Over the past sixty years, the six sisters of the He family have gone through ups and downs, witnessed innocence, suffered great changes, and guarded the beauty. As they go through life, they gradually understand the meaning of "home" that their father repeatedly emphasized during his lifetime.

Several generations, from the old lady, to Chang Sheng, Mei Xin, Liu Ma, to the six sisters Jia Li Jia Wen, Qiu Fang, Wei Min, Jianguo, Wei Guo, and the younger generations behind them. The lives of several generations, the grievances and resentments of the He and Tang families, the turbulent love and hate of the Jiali generation, the ups and downs of the Jiali sisters, and the various in-laws' families are all reduced to time, just like a cloud. After all, a family of sisters is a family, noisy and bickering, but they have the same blood after all. In life, there are good things to come and good things to come, but you still have to keep your heart. Keeping your heart towards the light is enough to comfort you in this life.
This is the time of reform
Girls born in the 80s and 90s are becoming more and more powerful. Because they are financially independent, they do not want to be wronged. In fact, most of the mothers-in-law born in the 60s and 70s have not been wronged. They were loved by their parents when they were young and loved by their husbands after marriage. Most of their sons were born in the 80s and 90s, and most of them have warm temperaments. Such two generations of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are not easy to get along with, they are both strong enough. Divorce, alas! Isn't it good to protect and tolerate each other?
civilian literature
The story is a bit heavy, the good guys are too bad, and the description of the evil and greed of human nature is very in-depth and worth watching. Personally, I think the shortcoming is that the depiction of different eras is not deep enough and there are no characteristics of the era. The author seems to be deliberately downplaying it, or does not have a deep understanding of it, which makes the artistic conception that the work should present a lot less.
This is a good book that witnesses the history of Huainan + recommendation
The sisters the author writes about are so vivid. The eldest sister's selfless contribution to the family, the old grandmother's wisdom in running the house, and the old mother's preference and helplessness are so well written!
All aspects of life are natural and appropriate! Written very smoothly and naturally 👍
