About This Novel

"Millions of Pounds" was selected as a must-read series for the new curriculum standards. It is a novel by the famous American writer Mark Twain. It tells the story of Henry, a poor clerk, and his adventures in London. Two wealthy brothers in London made a bet to see how Henry would end up within a month by lending him a million-dollar note that could not be cashed. When the one-month deadline came, Henry not only did not starve to death or be arrested, but instead became a rich man and won the heart of a beautiful lady. Mark Twain used a slightly exaggerated approach to humorously satirize and attack the money worship that was popular in society at that time. This book also contains many satirical and legendary novels such as "Running for Governor" and "The Mysterious Stranger". With the help of vivid paintings of the world, it analyzes the weaknesses of human nature such as desire, greed, hypocrisy, suspicion, etc. It serves as a warning to the world, makes people think, and allows us to understand ourselves more objectively, treat our own weaknesses correctly, and then establish a correct outlook on life and values.
