About This Novel
The Battle of Crossing the River, also known as the Battle of Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou, lasted 42 days from the People's Liberation Army launching the cross-river operation on April 21, 1949, to the liberation of Chongming Island in Shanghai on June 2. It was the fourth large-scale cross-river operation in the long history of China after the Jin Dynasty defeated Wu, the Sui Dynasty defeated Chen, and the Song Dynasty defeated the Southern Tang Dynasty. It was the first battle of the Chinese People's Liberation Army's strategic pursuit, the beginning of its march across the country, and a miracle in history.
