"Self Reset" is a modern psychological horror novel that is very thought-provoking. Freelance designer Lin Fan's originally peaceful life was completely disrupted by a pair of new neighbors who behaved to perfection. What followed were strange network fluctuations, a constant low hum in the wall late at night, and subtle changes in his own habits that were difficult to explain - the inexplicable appearance of sugar in his coffee, the unfamiliar melody humming in his mouth. He was horrified to find that his neighbors seemed to be able to predict the future and even began to influence the residents of the entire building. No one believed his warning, and his close friends and girlfriend thought he was under too much pressure. It wasn't until he took the risk to sneak into his neighbor's house that he witnessed the horrifying truth: it was not a residence, but a lair filled with cold cabinets and torrent of data, which was silently scanning, analyzing and synchronizing everyone's lives. Lin Fan became an "error code" in the system. He must find a way to resist this silent invasion before he is completely "optimized" and reset, otherwise he will lose not only his privacy, but his entire self.
