Lighthouse Boy
About This Novel
Nine-year-old Gilmore seems to be a very happy child, but his teacher Sonia feels that he is like a lighthouse keeper with a secret hidden deep in his heart. He dreams of becoming "Fairy Mary" when he grows up, possessing super magic and returning everything to the beautiful past. Her father, Manuel, is an unemployed aviation engineer, and her mother, Amanda, works as a flight attendant in Dubai. Little Gilmore would receive a letter from his mother every Thursday, but he never saw her again. When his father found out about little Gilmore's dream of becoming a fairy, he was furious and sent him to Maria for psychological counseling. Maria asked him to hand in an assignment, a painting or a diary entry every week. She explored little Gilmore's lonely inner world bit by bit, and discovered that his persistence in magic came from his avoidance of cruel reality. In the face of sudden pain, we often comfort each other in the clumsiest way.
