Notes from a Haunted House: No. 13 Huaiyin Road
About This Novel
No. 13 Huaiyin Road, a three-story Western-style building built in 1937, has stood quietly on the edge of the city for more than 80 years. The ivy on the outer wall has long since died, leaving only black vines wrapping around the mottled wall like blood vessels. Neighboring residents said the house was "dirty" - in the past ten years, seven tenants who moved in all died mysteriously within three months without exception. The death records show strange patterns: the first tenant drowned in the bathtub, although the water only reached her ankles; the second "jumped" from the third-floor window, but there were scratches crawling outward on the window sill; the third died of cardiac arrest, and the medical examiner found that her pupils were dilated to almost cover the entire iris, as if she had seen something extremely terrifying before she died.
