Five Years after My Mother Died
by Green Page
About This Novel
Because of my playfulness, my mother died on the way to the amusement park. In order to save me, she silently resisted the large piece of metal flying from the car, causing a large gash in her body. My father and brother were in great pain, and they blamed me, the survivor, for my mother's death. My brother, who had always loved me, was disgusted with me. He said that if my mother had not protected me, she would not have died so tragically. Dad was taciturn and never looked at me with concern again. He stayed away from home for a whole month, ignoring the so-called punishment that my brother imposed on me. Then one day, he brought back a mother and daughter. That woman looks a lot like my mother. Everyone except me regards her as my mother's substitute.
