About This Novel
Diocletian was both the "terminator" of the crisis of the third century and the initiator of the later history of the Roman Empire. Diocletian implemented the co-rule of the Four Emperors, appeased the provinces, pacified the borders, reformed currency and taxes, restructured the army and provinces, carried out the last major persecution of Christianity, and restored stability, thus allowing the Roman Empire to continue to survive for nearly two hundred years.
