About This Novel
This book examines the characteristics and causes of southwest border governance from the perspective of regional overall history. On the basis of discussing the central government's governance of the southwest border before the implementation of the chieftain system, this paper focused on the central government's governance of the southwest border after the implementation of the chieftain system. It also summarized my country's successful experiences and failures in dealing with the relations with the three countries of Indochina caused by the chieftain system in the southwest border area, transnational ethnic relations in the border, the development of ethnic societies in the border, changes in my country's southwest territory, and the political security and stability of the border. It also pointed out the political and cultural problems exposed by the chieftain system in the security and stability of the southwest border.
