About This Novel
"History and Objects" contains thirty-eight letters written by Chinese scholars and academic institutions to the French sinologist Pelliot from 1909 to the 1930s, as well as thirteen related attachments. They are relevant historical materials collected for the purpose of studying the origins of modern Chinese academics and the migration and movement of ideas covering the Eurasian continent over the past two centuries, and the expansion of research based on these historical materials. The book's summary review of Sinology, Chinese Studies, and the encounter between Sinology and Chinese Studies will be used as a background statement to put these precious letters back to the scene at that time; while history and objects are the editor's analysis and display of the letters, and the academic flourishes and academic interactions between China and foreign countries in the early days of the Chinese humanities and social sciences knowledge body that can be traced back to the letters.
