About This Novel

"Where Water Begins" is divided into two parts. Part One: Essays about Suzhou. These essays, like the author's novels, are always closely related to his hometown of Suzhou, and they are more direct and casual than the novels. Part Two: Prose about places other than Suzhou. This is prose while walking. It is written while walking, reading while walking, thinking while walking, learning while walking, and writing while walking. Some are praising the miraculous craftsmanship of nature, some are lamenting the great changes that have occurred in time, some are regretful about loss, and some are unexpectedly enlightening.
