About This Novel
This book is a collection of Hu Xianyin and Ouyang Keyu. This book is mainly composed of prose and poetry. It includes 21 essays by Hu Xianyin, 63 poems, and 43 essays by Ouyang Keyu. There are also 26 excerpts mainly from the letters between the two people when they were separated in the late 1960s and 1970s. Finally, there are several essays written by children, grandchildren and students describing their interactions with us. All prose and poetry are soaked in strong "emotion". There is the love and care of the elders for the younger ones, the respect and love of the younger generations for the elders, the flesh-and-blood love of parents and children, the brotherhood of brothers and sisters, the loyal love of couples, and the love for flowers and leaves, the nostalgia for the hometown, the longing for the mountains and rivers of the motherland, the worship of Chinese culture, and the lingering feeling for exotic customs...
