This book takes the development and spread of ballad and proverb culture in the Han Dynasty as the research object. By carefully sorting out the documents of the past dynasties, it sorts out the nature, origin, quantity, and categories of ballad and proverb works during this period. It analyzes the diverse forms, contents, styles, and artistic expressions of ballad and proverb works, and examines the regional distribution of ballad and proverbs in the Han Dynasty and the scope of dissemination of different types of works. By analyzing the occasions and ways in which ballads and proverbs were used in the Han Dynasty, this paper discusses the situations and motivations of people from all walks of life in the Han Dynasty, including lower-class people, literati and Confucian scholars, imperial students, court officials, prophecies, and political activists, who used ballads and proverbs. This paper examines the complex social communication of ballads and proverbs in the Han Dynasty from the three aspects of communication methods, carriers and variations; and summarizes the reasons for the prevalence of ballads and proverbs culture in the Han Dynasty from three aspects: the development and perfection of the ballad and proverb art itself, the influence of relevant official policies, and people's daily spiritual needs.
