"Flowers in the Mirror" is a novel written by Li Ruzhen, a literati in the Qing Dynasty. When Wu Zetian was in power, the scholar Tang Ao was frustrated in his official career and went to sea with his wife's uncle Lin Zhiyang, traveling to more than 40 countries. In the country of gentlemen, the people wear swords and are willing to be modest; in the Republic of Bai, all of them are handsome and elegant, but in fact they are uneducated in arts; in the country of girls, men wear skirts backwards to attend to domestic affairs, and women wear boots and hats backwards to attend to foreign affairs; after experiencing various strange things, Tang Ao finally realized something and escaped into Penglai, a fairy mountain... The author used imaginary overseas stories to ridicule current events and embody ideals. The structure is similar to " "Gulliver's Travels", in which the section on the Kingdom of Women was praised by Hu Shi as an immortal text in the history of world feminism; the three characters in the book, Tang Ao, Lin Zhiyang, and Duo Jiugong, have distinct personalities, and their dialogues and plots are often witty and humorous.
