Zhang Shengyou was born in Yongding, Fujian. Graduated from Fudan University in 1982. Editor and reviewer, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He once served as the editor-in-chief of Guangming Daily Publishing House and the president and editor-in-chief of Writers Publishing House. He is currently a member of the Party Committee of the Chinese Writers Association. Secretary of the Secretariat, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Management Committee of China Writers Publishing Group. Published 12 reportage collections such as "China Through the Tunnel of History" and "Icebreaking Journey"); wrote 25 film and television political commentaries (300 episodes) such as "Ten Years Tide", "Historical Choices" and "Let Pudong Tell the World". He has won the National Outstanding Reportage Award, the Xu Chi Reportage Award, and the Bing Xin Prose Award. Many works have been selected into Chinese language textbooks for universities and middle schools.
