About This Novel
It was one day in the early spring of 1912 AD. A five-man Antarctic expedition led by British Captain Robert Scott finally successfully reached the South Pole after months of hellish journeys. Just when they were about to cheer for victory, they suddenly discovered that the Norwegian Amundsen had planted their flag here four weeks ago. In a contest to reach the South Pole, Scott failed. "The worst thing has happened." Scott, who was both angry and sad, wrote in his diary: "Goodbye, all my dreams. My God! This is really a terrible place. We tried our best, but we couldn't get the honor of being the first person... Now we are going home. It will be a hard struggle. I don't know if we can go back." His worries were not unnecessary.
