The research perspective focuses on the literature of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, which has been under the heavy cover of the May Fourth Movement for a long time. However, it does not comprehensively describe the history of literary development from the late Qing Dynasty to the May Fourth Period. Instead, it uses "modernity" as a theoretical resource and research strategy to seriously and in-depth examine several very prominent and meaningful literary and cultural phenomena and writers' works during this period. It has achieved many achievements and formed a substantial advancement within the subject field. In an absolute sense, these topics are not new. However, Ms. Yang Lianfen's reinterpretation of these "old topics" is full of new ideas and extremely inspiring, which is closely related to the author's academic attitude, academic accomplishment, research capabilities and research methods.
