About This Novel

Literary criticism for what? What is literary criticism? Are we asking again and again to seek answers? Or is the inference itself futile? Criticism is of course not criticizing or blaming, but pointing out what is good and can be promoted, and what is bad and can be avoided. For the author, it is to clarify the goal of moving forward; for the reader, it is to open the skylight to the work. But the promise of literature is not a textbook. It is at most a narrow door to enlightenment, and so is criticism. Its promise does not provide rational answers, but opens up the desire for cognition and the possibility of understanding.
