"Light and Dark" is a long masterpiece by the great Japanese writer Natsume Seseki. The story is set in Tokyo in the Meiji Era of civilized Japan, and uses the life experiences and emotional entanglements of the newly married Tsuda couple for six months as clues. It mainly depicts the kinship relationships, human relationships, and intergenerational conflicts among Japan's middle and upper classes. It also reflects the almost irreconcilable gap and contradiction between them and the people at the bottom. With its endless character activities, facial expression dialogues and psychological descriptions, the novel creates multiple characters with distinct personalities and different stances. Through wonderful dialogues between the characters, it presents scenes of intense, verbal and secret struggles.
