This book is Balzac's classic masterpiece, translated by Fu Lei. Honorine was first serialized in La Stampa from March 17 to 29, 1843. In 1844, a single volume was published by Botai Bookstore, divided into forty chapters, each chapter has a title. In the same year, it was compiled into the fourth volume of Finer's edition of The Human Comedy. In the work, the author not only raised issues of family, marriage, and love, but also raised issues of morality, law, and religion. Honorina is dissatisfied with her subordinate status in the family and pursues independence, freedom and exciting love. She abandoned her property and husband and ran away with her lover, only to be abandoned because she lost her property. She expected to earn her own living, but after seven years of struggle, she still had to return to her husband under the pressure of society, law, and religious concepts, and finally died of physical and mental exhaustion.
