Kite (maugham's Short Story Collection)
by Maugham
About This Novel
This book selects eleven of Maugham's more representative short stories, such as "The Kite", "Red Hair", "Before the Banquet", "The Man Who Swallowed the Magic Fruit", etc. Looking at many of Maugham's short stories, his works are very storytelling, usually with foreshadowing, suspense, climax and aftermath. Maugham had a frank personality and often made statements in his creations. He insisted on examining reality with an objective and calm attitude, which also reflected his concern for human nature and society.

Every story is interesting
I have to say that Maugham is a really smart writer who knows how to tell stories, and I love every story.
very interesting
Every story has an unexpected ending
Reminds me of a Japanese writer Junichiro Tanizaki
I feel that Nelson, the last red-haired story, should be the prototype of The Moon and Sixpence (he piles books in an isolated place, studies the truth, and lives like a savage.) The previous short story is a bit humorous, and reminds me of a writer Tanizaki Junichiro (gloomy human stories... Or something like that. I didn't know that Somerset Maugham was a writer of this type. I also checked whether he was influenced by Japanese writers, but it seems not, but he was influenced by some Eastern philosophy? (Hey, wait a minute, but to put it this way, Junichiro Tanizaki should have been influenced by him. It seems that Somerset Maugham was earlier.
I like Maugham's various short stories, each one is full of philosophy and inspiration.
A friend in need? It's true that people cannot be judged by appearance, and sea water cannot be measured.
Interesting soul, the words written are full of fun😄
A short story with profound meaning and thought-provoking meaning
