About This Novel
Genfu on the south bank of Baiye River is a famous city, known as the Vienna of the East. The megacity's riverside park is a lively spot that rivals Shanghai's Bund. Standing on the bank of the park and looking upstream, there is a Jiangxin Island in the distance. I don't know whether it's due to poor soil and water conservation that increases the sediment content in the river, or whether excessive sand dredging operations change the direction of the water flow. Anyway, people say that the island is good at it. Older people say that twenty years ago it looked like a spindle, thick at both ends and thin in the middle. Now the "spindle" has grown up, and another "hammer" has grown next to the waist. A lake with a narrow entrance and a wide middle is formed between the two "hammers". The water in the lake flows slowly, is surrounded by white sand, and is surrounded by willow bushes over three meters high. Because it is far away from the city and there are no homes nearby, passers-by cannot tell that there is a lake on the island. Such a God-given place for wild bathing has been neglected for a long time.
