This is a short poem written in 1965 by Master Hai Deng, a famous contemporary monk. From this poem, in addition to appreciating the distant and cheerful mind of Master Haideng, we can also prove from another aspect that he lived in seclusion in the south of the Yangtze River and traveled all over the world. Within the territory of Wuxian County, Jiangsu Province, there are 36 islands and 72 peaks in the 36,000 hectares of Taihu Lake. The largest island among them is called Xishan Island. Its area is exactly the same size as Hong Kong. There is Shigong Mountain in the southwest of Xishan Island, and there is Shigong Temple on Shigong Mountain. The mountains and waters there are picturesque, and the fruits are fragrant all year round. Master Haideng lived in seclusion here and served as the presiding officer of Shigong Temple.
