About This Novel

This book is a novella, set in City A written by Yu Dafu, and borrows characters from Yu Dafu's "City A Series". The protagonist Yu Zhifu met some literati and brothel girls in City A eight years ago and formed a deep friendship with them. Once drunk, Yu Zhifu made a promise to a woman to save her from the fireworks. However, due to war and other reasons, he hurriedly left city A the next day. Yu Zhifu has always been tortured by this promise in his heart, but he is not sure who the woman he made the promise to is. So, after eight years of inner torture, he returned to City A again like a lost sheep, looking for that woman and seeking the salvation of his own soul.
