About This Novel
This story takes place in 1974. That year was an unusual era of water conservancy construction for a small city in southern China. In the past two years, this area suffered from the worst drought in a century. In order to divert water to irrigate millions of acres of farmland, people focused all their attention on the small river next to the city. The small river is a first-class tributary of the Yangtze River and has a nice name called Huangbai River. People first built a channel along the creek, and two years later built a dam on the creek. As a result, countless teams of migrant workers set out from their hometowns, with militia companies as the most basic units, carrying red flags, carrying bed rolls, food, and working tools, and marched toward Huangbai River in a mighty manner.
